Photo Gallery: Two-week countdown begins for Miss USA contestants

Even before today’s official arrival and welcome ceremony at 6 p.m. on the forecourt at Planet Hollywood, the 51 Miss USA 2009 contestants got right down to the business of a beauty pageant yesterday.

After checking in yesterday and being assigned roommates, the gorgeous girls went right to makeup for their formal photo shoots. The two-week countdown and adventure is officially underway!

Our contributing photographer Tom Donoghue was there for these first candid, behind-the-scenes photos.

The live NBC telecast is set for April 19 from Planet Hollywood. This weekend and all next week, the stunning young ladies will be out and about our town at charity events and enjoying our restaurants. The following week, it’s nothing but rehearsals for staging the big show with dance routines, model parades and walking patterns.

Vegas DeLuxe will have daily coverage leading up to the glittering night, plus reports from our embedded special correspondent, Miss Nevada USA Georgina Vaughan!
