Everybody assumed that Jackass stuntman and Las Vegas nightclub regular Steve-O would wipe out last night on Season 8, Episode 5 of ABC’s top-rated Dancing With the Stars. Instead, in a shocking surprise, as Vegas DeLuxe reported shortly after the live East Coast broadcast (click HERE), it was David Alan Grier and partner Kym Johnson who got the boot.
David had a dance-off with Lawrence Taylor and his partner Edyta Sliwinska, and although Lawrence had a lower score, it was David who was sent home! Once again, TV viewers voted in an unexpected and unpredictable manner.
Here are the official ABC dance floor photos from last night’s results show, plus the amazing exhibition of acrobatic ballroom dancing that Maksim Chmerkovskiy choreographed for his 19 Le Reve dancer friends from the Wynn.
Now the guessing game begins for next week’s episode. Will Steve-O finally get axed? Will his powerful legion of crazed fans save him yet again? Will Lawrence have to buck against cowboy rider Ty Murray with partner Chelsea Hightower?
It’s becoming obvious, as the weeks tick by, that Gilles Marini with partner Cheryl Burke and Melissa Rycroft with partner Tony Dovolani will wind up as the two top combatants. Las Vegas Academy graduates Derek Hough with Lil’ Kim and Julianne Hough with country singer boyfriend Chuck Wicks should make it into the final four.
Cast members of Le Reve on Dancing With the Stars.
My prediction for next week, barring more viewer surprises, is that it will be touch and go for Steve-O, Lawrence and Ty. We’ll have the judges’ scoring next Monday night right after the live broadcast from Hollywood back to the East Coast.
Robin Leach has been a journalist for more than 50 years and has spent the past decade giving readers the inside scoop on Las Vegas, the world’s premier platinum playground.
