When The Hangover is released in theaters June 12, you will recognize many Caesars Palace locations in the film. Cast members Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis shot part of the film at the casino resort.
The Hangover is the story of a wedding groom, played by Justin Bartha, who heads for Las Vegas for one big bad blowout two days before his wedding The morning after with raging hangovers, his three pals wake up to discover a tiger in the bathroom and a 6-month old baby in the closet of their Caesars suite. Plus, there is no sign of the groom!
They have 48 hours in this comedy of errors to find and get him back in time for the wedding. Wedding Crashers star Bradley was in town recently to pick up the Comedy Star of the Year award at ShoWest 2009. Bradley stars in four more movies to be released this year!
Snoop Dogg.
*Rap superstar Snoop Dogg will unveil his first-ever wax figure at Madame Tussauds at The Venetian. Snoop, born Cordozar Calvin Broadus, will be affixed to the stage name persona on the model. Fifty youngsters from his Pomona Steelers football team will accompany him here for the unveiling. He is one of only three rap superstars to be featured in the worldwide collection. It cost $300,000 to create the figure, and Snoop insisted that his own clothing include a baseball jacket from his new line also being unveiled this weekend.
Wicked whispers & racy rumor
Craigslist.org brings out unbalanced vitriol in people as they remain anonymous and disguised while posting their poisonous and rotten rants. Who was it who went for a nightclub job interview and met a Strip entertainer who promised the position in exchange for sexual favors? … Who was the plastic surgery fan who had the gall to describe a generous Las Vegas charity supporter as “a pregnant rat?" … Did a cable TV show producer actually offer the paltry fee of $250 to a model to go topless for his new sexy game show where four people try out sexual antics? … Are we about to hear a major multiyear renewal of one the most successful shows in Vegas? … Who are the folks trying to raise multimillions of OPM (Other Peoples’ Money) to take over a Strip theater and simultaneously kick off a new TV production? … Will there be an announcement shortly about a busy theater here being turned over for afternoon specials to be shot in HD and sent across country?
"Sugar" Shane Mosley and his three children at Believe.
Criss Angel and "Sugar" Shane Mosley.
*Boxer “Sugar” Shane Mosley took his three children to see magician Criss Angel’s Cirque du Soleil show Believe at the Luxor. Najee, Tai and Mee Mee snacked on popcorn during the show and stood to clap loudly during the standing ovation. Afterward, the Mosley family went backstage to meet Criss, so the cute kids could get their programs autographed. Criss and Shane wound up talking boxing!
Audrina Patridge.
*The Hills star and ShoWest 2009 winner Audrina Patridge is set to host the nighttime grand opening of the Sapphire pool at The Rio on May 2. That conflicts with the Ricky Hatton-Manny Pacquiao fight, but my bet is that there will be plenty of red-blooded men to ogle and gaze upon Audrina and the sexy Sapphire strip club ladies.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. at XS in the Encore.
Kenny Chesney.
Star surveillance
Flashing a diamond-studded boxing glove pendant necklace, champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. was at N9NE Steakhouse lounge to enjoy chef Barry Dakake’s chicken nuggets and apple pie. … British fighter Ricky Hatton was one of the first dinner guests at the Hard Rock Hotel’s new Rare 120 steakhouse. … Country superstar Kenny Chesney removed that trademark Stetson when he returned to The Playboy Club at the Palms with his new all-access Playboy gold key! He wooed and wowed the Bunny servers there!
Chef Gustav Mauler and Southern Nevada Public Television President Lisa Swisher.
Vegas PBS General Manager Tom Axtell and Congresswoman Shelley Berkeley.
*Congratulations to Vegas PBS in conjunction with Southern Nevada Public Television in celebrating its 20th anniversary. Certified master chef Gustav Mauler prepared an elegant four-course dinner, and the Educational Technology Campus event included a live and silent auction. Congresswoman Shelley Berkeley; SNPT founder Charlotte Hill, a member of the State Board of Education; and political correspondent Mitch Fox attended the event with Vegas PBS General Manager Tom Axtell and SNPT President Lisa Swisher.
PETA spokesman Carey Hart.
Tonight’s tips
Wasted Space refuses to be overshadowed by the opening of The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel: Owner Carey Hart presents Folio tonight to rock the roof of his music lounge. Carey opens his new tattoo parlor there this weekend, too. … From the housing projects to winning the Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen to a Tonight Show appearance with Jay Leno, it’s been quite a rise for Kivi Rogers complete with his own sitcom. Now he headlines tonight through Sunday at the Improv at Harrah’s with Rick Delia and Brandon “Gooch” Hahn as his opening acts.
Miss Washington USA Tara Turnure, Miss Tennessee USA Kristen Motil, Miss Rhode Island USA Alysha Castonguay and Miss Utah USA Laura Kirilova Chukanov at the Liberace Museum.
Tomorrow’s teases
It’s the 30th anniversary of the Liberace Museum, and a daylong series of special events is scheduled to mark the sequins and sparkle celebration. Liberace first played Las Vegas in 1944 and opened the building that houses his cars, pianos, jewelry and outrageous costumes in 1979. … It’s also the 97th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, and a special observance is planned at the Luxor’s Titanic exhibit. … We’ll also welcome the horse riders for the Rolex World Cup of equestrian events that kicks off a five-day championship.
