It’s become one of our most favorite events on the Las Vegas calendar as residents here wonder who will be picked each year to make up the Vegas Dozen. A benefit for the Nevada Cancer Institute, the Saks 5th Avenue at Fashion Show Mall honors 12 of the city’s brightest and best guys: “The Men We Love and Why We Love Them.”
Once again, longtime resident and singer Phyllis McGuire played mistress of ceremonies, and the Alizma violin-playing triplets performed a mini-concert before the eligible men were paraded in their power lineup.
This year the honors went to our fearless leader Greenspun Media Group President Michael Carr, as well as to our good friends David Kirvin of Kirvin Doak Communications; Iron Chef winner Kerry Simon, chef owner of Simon at Palms Place; George Maloof, president of the Palms; Jason Straus, managing partner of Tao and Lavo at The Venetian and Palazzo; David Robins, managing partner of Wolfgang Puck Fine Dining; and Michael Severino, general manager of event marketing for Southern Wine and Spirits.
Also honored were Pat Christenson, president of Las Vegas Events; Bill Hornbuckle, president of Mandalay Bay; Lon Kruger, head coach of the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels; chef Gustav Mauler of Gustav International; and Jack Sheehan, author and public speaker.
The 12 magnificent men were dressed up in Hugo Boss, Jhane Barnes, Cole Haan, Canali and Armani Collection!
Robin Leach has been a journalist for more than 50 years and has spent the past decade giving readers the inside scoop on Las Vegas, the world’s premier platinum playground.
