Strip Scribbles: NBT names Marie Osmond its Woman of the Year

Our Nevada Ballet Theatre has named Flamingo headliner Marie Osmond as its Woman of the Year for the 2010 Black & White Ball on Jan. 23 at Paris Las Vegas. Marie, who performs with brother Donny on the Strip, is a singer, author, Broadway performer and philanthropist.
Marie co-founded the Children’s Miracle Network in 1982, the largest children’s charity of its kind. More than 17 million children are treated every year in more than 170 Children’s Hospitals, and the charity has raised more than $3.6 billion.

“Nevada Ballet Theatre is honored to recognize entertainer Marie Osmond,” NBT co-founder and Co-Chair Nancy Houssels said. “From her days on The Donny & Marie Show to her work with the Children’s Miracle Network, we are thrilled to celebrate her achievements and dedication to the world of arts and entertainment.”
Past Black & White Ball honorees include Debbie Reynolds, Celine Dion, Rita Rudner, Paula Abdul and most recently Bette Midler.
*Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman cut the ribbon to officially open Paymon’s Mediterranean Bistro in the heart of the Arts District. The restaurant serves a selection of favorite dishes from owner Paymon Raouf’s other two restaurants Paymon’s Mediterranean Cafe & Hookah Lounge and Paymon’s Mediterranean Cafe and Lounge. Oscar, who turned 70 on July 26, celebrated his birthday last weekend with a public street party at the Golden Nugget and Fremont Street Experience. *Peepshow in Planet Hollywood recently hosted stars of stage, big screen and small screen. Handsome actor and recent Academy Awards host Hugh Jackman attended a 10:30 p.m. performance, while two-time Dancing With the Stars pro champ Cheryl Burke went to an 8 p.m. show with friends. Cheryl congratulated the cast after the show and posted for a group photo.

*The cast of the new CBS comedy Accidentally on Purpose celebrated its series pilot pick-up with a trip here that included dinner at Michael Mina’s Seablue and Cirque du Soleil’s Ka at MGM Grand. Cast members Grant Show, Lennon Parham, Nicolas Wright, Jon Foster and Jenna Elfman went backstage to congratulate the cast and posed for a group photo.

*Carrot Top, Don Marrandino, Vinnie Paul and Ashley of VH1’s Rock of Love Bus and Charm School were spotted at Motley Crue’s Crue Fest 2 at The Joint in the Hard Rock Hotel on Saturday night -- click HERE for our photo gallery and post. After the concert, Cuba Gooding Jr., Ne-Yo, Brody Jenner and Elijah Kelley were spotted hanging out at Body English. Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee and Pamela Anderson, also at Body English, were seen kissing, and she nibbled on his candy necklace. Ne-Yo and Brody took turns jumping onstage and performing with DJ Clinton Sparks.

Brody Jenner dined at Rare 120 in the Hard Rock Hotel with a large group of female friends, while Cuba Gooding Jr. dined at the new hotspot with a large group of male friends. … Melissa Rivers was spotted having lunch with friends at Dos Caminos in the Palazzo. … The patio at Blush in the Wynn played host to Nicky Hilton and boyfriend David Katzenberg, as well as poker legend Doyle Brunson, who recently celebrated his World Series of Poker 40th anniversary at Blush. … Mary Lynn Rajskub of 24 dined with six friends at Strip House in Planet Hollywood. Steve Madden was at a separate table. … Kirsten Dunst and two girlfriends dined at Lavo in the Palazzo and hung out on the terrace before heading upstairs to the boutique nightclub, where they danced to the sounds of DJ Five while enjoying Grey Goose cocktails. Then at 4 a.m., the trio made their way to sister nightclub Tao at The Venetian. … Michael Finley of the San Antonio Spurs dined with friends at Tao.
