“I just started texting!,” exclaimed actress Anne Heche when asked if she tweeted on Twitter while on the red carpet last night at Brenden Theatres in the Palms for her new film Spread starring Ashton Kutcher. Anne, in a gold dress with black trim and black pumps, described herself as old school when it came to technology and was a stunner with her long, golden locks and flirty eyes and smile. She discussed the TV series Men in Trees and her current HBO hit Hung, but does anyone else out there also remember Anne from her days on Another World 18 years ago?!

The crowd erupted when Ashton made his way down the red carpet with actress wife Demi Moore, tan and luminous in a black dress accented by a gold zipper. After ushering Demi to the end of the red carpet without stopping for interviews, he returned to face photographers and reporters with their cameras and questions. Ashton discussed Spread’s provocative story and script, but I couldn’t stop wondering why the stubble-sporting, dapperly dressed actor (blue dress shirt and black slacks and sweater vest) was wearing black dress shoes with no shoelaces.

KLUC 98.5 FM deejay Chet Buchanan, who one tourist near me mistook for Johnny Brenden (seriously!), served as red carpet emcee and also announced the arrival of Pussycat Dolls founder Robin Antin (who showed at least two reporters how to dance like a Pussycat Doll) and blue-eyed and tattooed British singer Matt Goss, both of whom are working together on a show that debuts Sept. 4 in The Lounge at the Palms, and Digg.com founder Kevin Rose and Diggnation host Alex Albrecht. Ashton joined Diggnation for a broadcast from the Palms yesterday.

A public after-party was scheduled for Ghostbar at 10 p.m. after the screening last night. Spread, the story of a sexual grifter in L.A. named Nikki (Ashton) who meets his match, spreads the love nationwide Aug. 14.
