Confirming Robin Leach’s July 6 story about one week after Michael Jackson’s death, The Associated Press is reporting today that a film featuring footage of the King of Pop’s last rehearsals at Staples Center in L.A. will be coming to a theater near you after receiving a judge’s approval. Click HERE for Robin’s exclusive story last month.
According to AP, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff OK’d a deal among AEG Live, Michael’s estate and Columbia Pictures last Friday and announced the ruling today. A preliminary agreement among the three parties says the film will include footage of Michael’s last rehearsals at Staples Center for the 50-concert This Is It run at London’s 02 Arena.
The judge had until today to OK the film and allowed Katherine Jackson’s mother, Katherine Jackson, to review the deals. Michael died on June 25 just days before he was to depart for the shows directed by Kenny Ortega.
Autopsy results to remain sealed
Meantime, AP also is reporting that coroner’s investigators have finished their investigation into Michael’s death but are not releasing the results yet, officials said today. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office said police investigators requested that the results remain under wraps while detectives examine the events leading up to Michael’s death. Neither the LAPD nor the Coroner’s Office said when the results would be made public.
