It was the second night of Holiday Havoc at The Joint in the Hard Rock Hotel, and Devon, England’s Muse entered right into the spirit of the season and the music of the moment.
Muse is Matthew Bellamy on vocals, guitar and piano, Christopher Wolstenholme on bass and backing vocals and Dominic Howard on drums. All three, the trio’s original lineup, were onstage thrilling the Saturday night audience.
Muse, whose most recent album, The Resistance, debuted at No. 3 in September and is the band’s highest-charting album in the U.S., is known for energetic and extravagant performances and mixing progressive rock, classical music and electronica. The single “Uprising” from The Resistance reached No. 1 on the U.S. Modern Tracks chart, the band’s first No. 1 hit in the U.S.
Muse also is widely known for the sweeping “Starlight” from 2006’s Black Holes & Revelations, which also includes “Supermassive Black Hole,” a single featured in the film and soundtrack for Twilight. (Muse is one of Twilight author Stephenie Meyer’s favorite bands -- she even credits them in her Twilight series of books.) “Starlight” reached No. 2 and “Supermassive Black Hole” No. 6 on the alternative chart.

Muse’s many awards have been attributed to their live performances, and our contributing photographer Erik Kabik captured Muse’s musings and music at The Joint over the weekend.
