Our heartfelt sadness and condolences to the family and friends of actress Brittany Murphy, who died this morning at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. The actress, whose credits include Clueless, 8 Mile and Sin City, was a young 32.

Our Senior Editor John Katsilometes, who is in Idaho with his family for the holidays, wrote from there about the shocking death of Brittany, whose Las Vegas friends included Tricia McCrone, the sister-in-law and publicist of Wayne Newton.

Here, too, are The Associated Press stories of Brittany’s death, which details the 911 call made this morning at 8 from the actress’s Hollywood Hills home that she shared with her husband, British screenwriter Simon Monjack, and the reaction of her celebrity friends, including Lindsay Lohan, Alyssa Milano, Frankie Muniz and Mena Suvari, who took to Twitter to offer their condolences.

These photos are of Brittany when she was at the Hard Rock Hotel in 2002 with then-boyfriend actor Ashton Kutcher. Their film Just Married was released in 2003. The photos appear here at Vegas DeLuxe and on our colleague Web sites for Las Vegas Weekly and Las Vegas Sun.

Brittany also was a singer -- she appeared on Palms resident DJ Paul Oakenfold’s single “Faster Kill Pussycat” off his Grammy-nominated album in 2006. Her credits also include Girl, Interrupted and Drop Dead Gorgeous, and she did voice work for Happy Feet and Fox’s King of the Hill.
