Despite the stunning and last-minute news of leaving Lady Gaga’s Monster Ball Tour, rapper Kid Cudi still stuck to his plans to celebrate the diva’s Las Vegas two-concert run at The Pearl in the Palms last Thursday and Friday.

Cudi had been scheduled to open for the glamour queen, but following a fight with a fan mid-concert in Vancouver, B.C., a week earlier and conflicting recording and film schedules, Cudi was released from her tour.

Since he’d arrived in Las Vegas with the Monster Ball production, he decided to stay and celebrate at his planned appearance at Lavo in the Palazzo. With a vodka cocktail in hand, the rapper hopped up on the Lavo catwalk around 1 a.m., turned it into his stage and proclaimed to the crowd that they were “witnessing the rebirth of Cudi right now in Vegas.” He performed “Pursuit of Happiness” and his hit “Day ’n’ Nite,” with the crowd chanting, “Cudi, Cudi, Cudi.”

A large group of friends, including Bryan Greenberg and Victor Rasuk of HBO’s upcoming How to Make It in America, which also features Cudi, joined in the festivities -- all as if Cudi had never left the tour. Hannah Selleck and Paulina Gretzky also had reason to celebrate at Lavo -- their birthdays!
