Bailed out bankers cancel visit — and private superstar concerts

It was no surprise yesterday when Wells Fargo bankers finally caved in to their self-created public relations disaster and canceled their massive trip to Las Vegas -- after they’d received a $25 billion check from the government bailout program! Let me remind you that the government bailout money comes from your hard-earned taxed dollars administered by elected officials who give you no say in how it’s spent.

The mortgage specialists were set for a lavish12-day stay at the Wynn and the Encore, but those plans have been scrapped. Even Washington politicians slammed the bank for the planned parties. The untold story, though, was that Wells Fargo also had lined up private concerts for the bankers with Cher and Jimmy Buffet on two of the nights! Those shows also have been canceled.

I haven’t been able to learn the names of at least three other stars who were being flown in to entertain the moneymen. They are canceled, too. Now the bank’s insurance division also has vetoed another three days of incentive meetings at Mandalay Bay at the end of the month to avoid further criticism.
