Morning Call: Motley Crue is set to close down The Joint at the Hard Rock

Is there anybody better than Las Vegas rocker Vince Neil and his Motley Crue to end an era and shut down The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel? The bad boys of rock bring their Saints of Los Angeles Tour to town tonight and tomorrow -- and it’s anybody’s guess what’ll happen!

Motley Crue, who has sold nearly 100 million albums, is the ultimate metal band wrapped up in “Girls, Girls, Girls,” plus the mandatory sex, drugs and rock ’n’ roll. Vince, Tommy Lee, Nikki Sixx and Mick Mars got together in 1981 and -- despite break-ups, brushes with the law including jail time, sex tapes, onstage breakdowns and near-death incidents -- they are still together! The band has 14 tour dates this month alone, and Vince tells me that they’re touring schedule runs for the rest of the year.

Tonight’s show might be a little mellower than tomorrow’s finale. Don’t be surprised if they play louder than ever to say goodbye to The Joint. Don’t be surprised if they smash up the guitars and stage. Don’t be surprised if they tell you to tear the place down. It’s going to be on the receiving end of the wrecker’s ball anyway.

The Joint concludes its 13-year-run at the Hard Rock on Feb. 7 with glam-metal vets Motley Crue.

It won’t be the first time Motley Crue has been booked to shut down a joint in style or magnificent mayhem. They are the very best at inciting a riot! It will be one memorable weekend, and tomorrow will be the end of an era.

The new, expanded Joint reopens in the new Hard Rock tower in April with hometown rockers The Killers. Be sure to check back here Monday for our photo report of the mayhem and madness!
