A few days before hometown hero Ne-Yo possibly sweeps the Sunday night Grammy Awards in L.A. with his six nominations, he kicked off his Year of the Gentleman Tour at The Pearl Concert Theater in the Palms.
Superstar Usher and his producer Jermaine Dupri, who are working on their new album at the Palms recording studio, took over a VIP skybox in the theater to watch last night’s concert with special guests the Electric Red. Headline boxer Zab Judah and Palms owner George Maloof also were among the VIP and sold-out crowd.
Our contributing photographers Denise Truscello, Erik Kabik and Scott Harrison were on hand for the extraordinary concert, and we have assembled their incredible images exclusively for Vegas DeLuxe readers.
Today, Ne-Yo returns to Los Angeles for rehearsals for Sunday’s CBS telecast of the Grammy Awards. He is nominated for six awards, including Album of the Year for Year of the Gentleman. Ne-Yo, who was brought up here from ages 9 to 18 and began his astounding career and rise to fame from here, has promised to never forget his hometown roots.
Everybody at Vegas DeLuxe wishes him well for a Grammy sweep because he’s still an unassuming, well-mannered superstar celebrity. He’s also well-liked by photographers because he goes out of his way to be polite, courteous and kind to them!
UPDATE 2/8/09: Ne-Yo won two Grammy Awards out of his six nominations: R&B Song for "Miss Independent" and Male R&B Vocal Solo for the same single.
