Celebrity chefs take dining to new heights with mayor

Twenty of our all-star chefs will go to new heights today with our merry Mayor of Mirth Oscar Goodman with a champagne toast 180 feet above the Strip. The group will gather at Dinner in the Sky to celebrate their success and the fine dining status bestowed on Las Vegas.

The titans of the toque include Francois Payard of Caesars Palace, one of the world’s top pastry chefs -- his chocolates have been featured on Sex and the City; Hubert Keller of Mandalay Bay, a favorite guest judge on Bravo’s Top Chef -- he’s been named one of the Top 10 New Best Chefs in America; Kerry Simon of Palms Place and the Luxor, dubbed the “Rock ’n Roll” chef by Rolling Stone after his winning appearances on Iron Chef America; and Michael Mina, who has three Michelin stars among his two namesake restaurants in the MGM Grand and the Bellagio.

Cat Cora, executive chef for Bon Appetit, will oversee the 5 p.m. publicity stunt. It’s all to promote the magazine’s upcoming four-day “Vegas Uncork’d” festival of fine food and charismatic chefs in Sin City!
