Strip Scribbles: Zowie Bowie photo is too sexy for this site — so sexy, it hurts

By Robin Leach

Zowie Bowie (Chris Phillips and Marley Taylor) are too sexy for that leopard print cushion.

Photo: Steve Honig

We have a first exclusive look at the hot sexy photo shoot of Zowie Bowie as they prepare for their debut at the Palms. Vegas DeLuxe can now confirm that the dynamic duo’s last show at Red Rock Station Casino will be Feb. 28, and their first show at the Palms is March 6. They have already ended their run of Vintage Vegas shows at Green Valley Ranch.

Chris Phillips and Marley Taylor worked with Vegas photographer Francis George for their racy new marketing campaign. Chris told me: “We wanted something hot and contemporary that was reminiscent of vintage Vegas, yet at the same time because we will now be at the Palms, which has the only Playboy Club in the world, we wanted to capture an image along the lines of Playboy at the height of its success.” This lead shot will soon be appearing on billboards, ads and promotional banners all over town!

There’s an interesting tale behind their relocation to the Palms, and it proves that a gorgeous blonde can entrust her secrets to her hairstylist. Marley has called Michael Boychuck from Amp Salon at the Palms her hair hero, and when he learned they were being lured to the Strip by a rival hotel, he promptly introduced them to Palms owner George Maloof and new entertainment director Michael Greco. Within an hour, they’d hammered out a deal for the new residency, and Michael and his Amp Salon were promptly booked for the hair and makeup for the photo session just days later. Now Michael will handle the styling of the new show!

Donny and Marie Osmond.

*You just never know which showbiz star might turn up in Donny and Marie Osmond’s guest VIP booth at their Flamingo theater! When Steve Miler showed up to watch the show, he got so into it that he even went on stage and joined Donny in a duet of “Joker.” Elsewhere in the Flamingo, poker player Daniel Negreanu laughed at and along with all the zingers fired off by sassy comic Vinnie Favorito.

Lance Burton chats with Craig Ferguson on The Late, Late Show With Craig Ferguson.

*When late-night TV talk show host Craig Ferguson starts a 10-day run at MGM’s Hollywood Theater on Thursday, you can expect to see master magician Lance Burton there taking a break from his headliner show. Then Craig will return the showbiz tradition and watch Lance at work in the Monte Carlo. The two became fast friends in the art of hocus pocus when Lance was a guest during Craig’s Magic Week shows and taught him some tricks! Incidentally, Lance, named Nevada’s Best Entertainer, is offering a 2-for-1 special for his family-friendly production through the end of this month for locals.

Piero Selvaggio at the Vino 2009 Italian Wines conference.

*Congratulations to Vegas restaurateur Piero Selvaggio. He was a recipient of the first Distinguished Service Award presented by the Italian Trade Commission at the VINO 2009 Italian Wines conference. Piero, who owns Valentino in The Venetian and Georgio’s in Mandalay Place, also was one of only eight honorees in the U.S. to be selected from importers, distributors, retailers, educators, journalists and restaurateurs to be inducted into the Hall of Fame for his lifelong dedication to the education and marketing of Italian wines in America.

*Some 2,000 deejays are in town for the Mobile Beat convention at the Riviera. These are the folks who twist the turntables at nightclubs, parties, weddings and corporate events. My friend, respected record producer Ron Dante, opens the show tonight with Vanilla Ice and Otis Day. Ron recorded “Sugar Sugar” as The Archies, and the song is one of the most played tunes during wedding cake cuttings worldwide! Ron, on a mini-Vegas vacation, attended Jersey Boys at the Palazzo and was introduced to the audience by Donny and Marie Osmond at their Flamingo show. He was Barry Manilow’s hit producer for a decade through the 1970s and ’80s. Ron brings his show with the Mellowtones and the Wonderelles to the Cannery on March 13 and 14.
