Elvises lead the charge in Legends in Concert move to Harrah’s

It will be the oddest gathering of celebrities ever assembled to walk the Strip this afternoon. At first glance, it will look as if the 50-strong group includes everybody from Britney Spears to Barbra Streisand and Frank Sinatra to Elvis Presley. They will be lined up ready to be moved -- along with their luggage -- from one hotel to another.

At a second, closer glance, when you discover more than 20 other in-costume superstars, you’ll realize that they are all look-alikes and impersonators! To add to the confusion, there will be several versions of Elvis mixed in with Madonna, Elton John, Jay Leno, Garth Brooks, Dolly Parton and Diana Ross and the Supremes.

They’ll have their musicians alongside playing all the instruments, wardrobe cabinets on wheels with costumes, plus their props and a slew of showgirls in full-feathered headdress. With them will be Harrah’s and Flamingo President Don Marrandino, who will lead the parade from his Imperial Palace property to Harrah’s, which will be the new home for Legends in Concert.

The look-alike legends who have called Imperial Palace home for more than 25 years as one of the longest-running tribute shows in entertainment history ended its run there Saturday. Yesterday was a day of packing up memories. Legends the third-longest running show in Vegas after Folies Bergere (due to close next month) and Jubilee! at the sister Bally’s property.

Tonight, mere hours after clearing out from Imperial Palace, they’ll be ready to go in Harrah’s. Imperial Palace staff will wave them a fond farewell, and Harrah’s employees will be gathered in the Carnival Court to welcome them after the 15-minute Strip stroll.

You can watch the organized mayhem -- without the normal moving trucks -- at 4 p.m. today! We’ll have the full photo report right here at Vegas DeLuxe tomorrow, so be sure to click back!
