Strip Scribbles: Cher loves The Colosseum theater at Caesars Palace

Now that superstar entertainer Cher has started her new monthlong run at Caesars Palace, she’s been doing a little talking with the media. Some of you know I do a weekly wrap-up of Vegas DeLuxe highlights for ABC News Radio, and my producer colleague Andrea Dresdale won some precious sound bites from Cher, which I was asked to include in one of my audio reports.

The award-winning singer-actress really loves The Colosseum theater here and said: “If you can imagine it, you can do it in this theater. We can do things in here that we would never ever be able to do on the road. I mean never! For me, it is like we have every single thing that is important. And it’s so great to be able to do a show that never stops. We all just keep going nonstop every night until it comes to the end. You just can’t do that while out traveling.”

Reminding you that Cher also reflected on the problems of her throat dealing with our desert dryness. Said the 62-year-old superstar: “You really have to live like a nun in Vegas. I can do things, but I just can’t talk. That’s very difficult for me. It is really hard on a singer’s throat.”

*NASCAR drivers David Stremme, Denny Hamlin and Sam Hornish Jr. took in our nightclub scene for a little relaxation before the stress and dangers of the Speedway races. Stremme will be driving the #12 Penske, Hamlin will be driving the #11 FedEx, and Hornish will be racing the #77 Mobil 1 in this weekend’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. They held court from the VIP stage at Pure in Caesars Palace and sipped on Grey Goose cocktails. Also joining the party was comedian Kevin Hart.

*A girl has to watch her figure! But when brunette beauty Audrina Patridge dined at Yellowtail in the Bellagio, she threw all caution to the wind! She sipped on dirty martinis while snacking her way through the culinary delights menu of celebrity chef Akira Back. Audrina was with her brother, cousin and members of her management team, and they all agreed that the best item was the “popping crab.” It’s a spicy crab roll lined with watermelon flavor Pop Rocks candy -- and it literally explodes in your mouth! After Yellowtail, Audrina hit neighboring Bank nightclub, where she switched to drinking Ty Ku in the club’s VIP section.

Steven was the original drummer for GnR from 1985 to 1990 and recently appeared on the VH1 reality show Sober House. Next door at Body English, singer Teairra Mari got on stage for an impromptu performance of her new single. Her debut single was a hit back in 2005, but “Make Her Feel Good” won wider recognition when it was remixed with Kanye West.

*Behind the sunglasses and the new beard is none other than Britney Spears’ ex Kevin Federline. Why he was in disguise while dining with eight friends at Tao in The Venetian before he went next door to sister nightclub Lavo for DJ Steve Aoki’s spin session is anybody’s guess. Hip-hop producer and rapper Jermaine Dupri also did the Tao dining and Lavo dancing back and forth with actor Chris Tucker. Actress and fashion designer Taryn Manning and her partner Tara Jane showcased their latest Born Uniqorn line on the Tao catwalk with models wearing the California casual styles. Actor Orlando Jones led the cheers after the show.

Tomorrow’s tease

It’s NASCAR weekend, and both the fearless drivers and the frenzied fans are ready for the high-speed thrills. I’ll be out there again Sunday morning to handle the pre-race show host duties right from the starting line, so we’ll have the full inside track. We’ll also post tomorrow coverage of tonight’s Pole Position Raceway showdown with Kurt and Kyle Busch, David Stremme and Jamie Little. It’s also the weekend for the opening of the new M Casino Resort Spa, and we’ve got an advance look, plus a final check-in with Siegfried & Roy before their magical one-night-only farewell reunion!
