Cher wants Sonny’s image on stamp, and she’s staying put at Caesars

Rumors printed elsewhere about superstar Cher starting a new farewell tour while still under her three-year Caesars Palace contract are totally untrue. Cher returns here starting Feb. 21 for a month’s run, and The Colosseum executives tell me she and her show are exclusive to them.

“We are her home,” I was told.

However, the story about Cher and her one-woman crusade to get her late ex-husband, Sonny Bono, a commemorative U.S. Postal Service stamp is true. She’s also successfully enlisted the help of California Rep. Mary Mack, who was married to Sonny up until the time of his death after the painful divorce from Cher.

Apparently, the top USPS folks are now considering the idea and think it could eventually happen. But first there’s a ton of bureaucratic government red tape to go through before the selection committee can green light the pop star and politician’s image appearing on stamps.

Cher has promised that she’d attend the dedication ceremonies if it all becomes reality.
