Two giant fights inside the cage! One to determine the heavyweight championship title, and another to settle the welterweight championship. If you were casting a battle for UFC 100, you couldn’t do better than the bitter and brutal rematch between our hometown hero Frank Mir and his extraordinary opponent Brock Lesnar -- and Georges St. Pierre battling Thiago Alves for the welterweight belt.
Along with those two volatile wars is the battle of the coaches from Season 9 of The Ultimate Fighter, with Michael Bisping grappling with Dan Henderson to settle their score -- plus eight other fights on the card!
UFC President Dana White says he’s stacked the night with the world’s greatest fighters for the most-anticipated fights of the UFC to date. The heavyweight championship fight between Frank and Brock was scheduled for UFC 98 on May 23 but was delayed. The two muscle men fought in UFC 81 in February 2008 when Frank beat Brock into a submission.
Georges St. Pierre celebrates his victory, over B.J. Penn in UFC 94, at Studio 54.
It’s been bad blood and words ever since, so tomorrow night’s historic rumble at Mandalay Bay Events Center, being telecast live around the world thanks to Vegas HD, will be a battle royal.
There are closed-circuit viewing parties throughout town, and we’ll tweet the fight results as we get them.
Before the boys battle tomorrow night, there’s another fight tonight between the girls. It’s the first all-female MMA card in The Orleans Arena, and that makes history! Tuff–N-Uff will present Tuff Girls, 12 fights in weight classes ranging from 105 to 170 pounds. The spotlight is on the battle between Meegan Thomas (3-0) and Barb Honchak (6-1). I’ve seen a couple of these fights, and the ladies are as aggressive and determined as the guys!
