Los Angeles Lakers among 21 teams taking part in NBA Summer League

Twenty-one NBA teams, including the 2009 NBA champions the Los Angeles Lakers, will compete in this year’s NBA Summer League, which kicks off today. In all, there will be 55 games from today’s tip-off through July 19.
Today’s matches are between Houston and Golden State (1 p.m.), Detroit vs. Sacramento (3 p.m.), Los Angeles against Toronto (5 p.m.) and Milwaukee vs. Dallas (7 p.m.), with all games in Cox Pavilion at the Thomas & Mack Center.
Tomorrow’s matches are between Toronto and Detroit (1 p.m.), Los Angeles vs. Cleveland (3 p.m.), Golden State vs. Sacramento (5 p.m.) and Houston vs. Dallas (7 p.m.). Sunday’s matches are New Orleans vs. San Antonio (1 p.m.), Minnesota vs. Houston (3 p.m.), Oklahoma City vs. Memphis (5 p.m.) and Cleveland vs. Milwaukee (7 p.m.).

You’ll get to rub shoulders with NBA stars from yesterday, today and tomorrow all week long. Some 24 of the 30 first-round picks from the 2009 draft will participate. Later in the week, there will be tip-offs between the Chicago Bulls, the New York Knicks, the Portland Trail Blazers and the Washington Wizards.
“NBA Summer League is a great opportunity for fans to get an up close and personal look at the league’s newest stars in a family-friendly atmosphere,” said NBA Senior VP Gail Hunter.
