Strip Scribbles: Terry Fator has a new lady in his life
By Robin Leach
Mirage headliner Terry Fator has started dating again, and the lucky lady is Las Vegas model Taylor Makakoa, who used to don a sexy red, white and blue patriotic outfit in his show nightly at The Mirage. Taylor left the show in March.
My spywitness at last night’s Rhumbar opening there told me, “They’re not hiding it. They were hand-in-hand all night long. They are very much together.” Taylor is a Hawaiian-born beauty who now resides in Las Vegas. The couple reportedly recently started dating
An unidentified friend, Terry Fator and Taylor Makakoa.
Terry and his wife of 18 years, Melinda, separated in January, and she filed for divorce in Texas before his show opened at The Mirage in February. Ironically, Terry had joked in his act when Taylor walked on and off the stage drawing wows from the audience that his wife has been wondering about her!
Peter Eastgate of Denmark celebrates after winning $9.15 million during the 2008 World Series of Poker at The Rio on Nov. 11.
*Actor Lou Diamond Phillips, who won I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Outta Here, was ousted from the World Series of Poker at The Rio but went home with a $36,626 win. Last year’s $9.15 million winner Peter Eastgate’s quest for a repeat has failed, along with former champ Joe Hachem. Still alive at the end of the sixth day of full play are Las Vegas hometown heroes Phil Ivey in third place and Antonio “The Magician” Esfandiari in sixth position. The field is now down to just 64, and the final nine should be announced tomorrow evening.
Criss Angel and his wax figure at Madame Tussauds.
*Congratulations to a pair of Las Vegas institutions celebrating their 10th anniversaries today. First is the Madame Tussauds at The Venetian. To mark the milestone, Nevada residents and Las Vegas locals will get admission through Labor Day for just $10 a ticket! Our branch of the 200-year-old London wax museum recently launched its Viva Vegas room with such figures as Mayor Oscar Goodman, Criss Angel, Snoop Dogg and Kathy Griffin included in the 27-image lineup. Since it opened a decade ago, Madame Tussauds Las Vegas has entertained nearly 5 million visitors. Oscar will be on hand to help celebrate tonight’s 10th anniversary of Marriage Can Be Murder, and there’s a surprise in store for him and the audience I can’t reveal. The dinner show is at the second floor theater at Fitzgerald’s.
Dominic Monaghan with Love cast member Campbell.
Evangeline Lilly and Love cast member Jimmie Cervera.
*Loststars Evangeline Lilly and Dominic Monaghan attended Love at The Mirage with his parents visiting from one of my old hometowns in England: Manchester. The group sipped dirty martinis and ate popcorn during the performance. Afterward, they went backstage to meet the cast and crew and told them they were seeing it for the second time because they’d fallen in love with it on their first visit in 2007! Evangeline and Dominic are total Cirque fans: They also hit The Beatles Revolution Lounge and O at the Bellagio.
The World Hip-Hop Dance Championships.
*Mark your schedule for dance of an altogether different kind. Some 1,700 of the world’s best street dancers from 30 nations will be here for the 8th USA and World Hip-Hop Dance Championships and Battles. The Philippine All Stars will be in Las Vegas to defend their title. The producers of MTV’s Randy Jackson Presents America’s Best Dance Crew created this contest that runs July 28 through Aug. 1 at the Lake Las Vegas Loews resort and then culminates at The Orleans Arena on Aug. 2. Bette Midler’s Caesars Palace show choreographer Tony Basil will be presented with the 2009 Living Legend of Hip-Hop Award. It’s the largest roster of dancers in the eight years of competition.
*Another date to plan for is the Professional Bull Riders World Finals from Oct. 30 through Nov. 8 at the Thomas & Mack Center. The world’s best riders of the bucking broncos come to town and do meet and greet sessions with their fans in addition to a slew of party hosting duties.
Monica Jackson, Rachel Smith, Jason Feinberg, Olivia Newton-John and John Easterling with a batch of cupcakes.
*My friend Australian singer Olivia Newton-John celebrated her first wedding anniversary with new husband John Easterling here. While on our local Fox station’s morning show, hosts Jason Feinberg, Monica Jackson and Rachel Smith presented them with a dozen cupcakes from the Cupcakery to mark the anniversary. Olivia and John recently returned from a trip to the Amazon, where they discovered a new long-life drink product they have begun importing to the U.S. Olivia, who has beaten cancer, told the TV folks she swears by the beverage.
