Las Vegas was well represented at the Los Angeles double-header against the Yankees in Anaheim, Calif. Jersey Boys cast member Erich Bergen threw out the opening ball in the first game, and Phantom -- Las Vegas Spectacular star Anthony Crivello, the Phantom himself, sang the national anthem before the second game. Dozens of Las Vegas fans of the Bronx Bombers made the trip, including our contributing photographer Tom Donoghue.
Tom found himself with a photo scoop on his hands as Alex Rodriguez’s new lady friend, actress Kate Hudson, watched the game from a luxury box near home plate -- and also from the team’s dugout!
Playing for the winning Angels were Mike Scioscia, Mike Napoli, Kendry Morales, Bobby Abreu, Chone Figgins, Maicer Izturis, Eric Aybar, Juan Rivera and Darren Oliver. On deck for the Yankees: Joe Girardi, Mark Teixeira, Robinson Cano, Johnny Damon, Hideki Matsui, Nick Swisher, Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, Jorge Posada, Andy Pettitte, Joba Chamberlain, A.J. Burnett, Reggie Jackson and Mariano Rivera.
Enjoy the close-up action photos of summer’s favorite pastime. After the game, some of the players even winged their way to Las Vegas to unwind! Angels pitcher Jered Weaver was at N9NE Steakhouse in the Palms with three friends sharing Kobe carpaccio and the nine perfect stuffed ’shrooms as appetizers. Jered ordered the 24-ounce bone-in filet with the lobster mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus for his entrée, which he polished off with Fiji water, a martini and a beer.
