Plans have been locked into place for the celebration of our Merry Mayor of Mirth Oscar Goodman’s 70th birthday that we first told you about nearly a month ago. The three-hour party July 31 will be open to the public, with a $20 donation benefiting Hizz Honor’s three favorite charities: the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, Opportunity Village and Three Square Food Bank. It’ll take place on First Street Stage downtown on Fremont Street Experience in front of the Golden Nugget.
A host of Las Vegas entertainers have promised to drop by with special performances throughout the 7 to 10 p.m. celebration. Guests attending will receive a commemorative T-shirt, a button and a birthday Bombay Sapphire martini. If everything goes according to plan, there will be a 70-inch ice sculpture, a lineup of 70 showgirls and 700 cocktails to make the toast for a photo of the mayor.
Additionally, there’ll be a special presentation by the United States Bartenders Guild. Organizers hope the party will continue on the street and in the Golden Nugget’s Gold Diggers Nightclub all night long.
Click HERE for our recent chat with Oscar when he admitted that he’s mulling a run for governor and that his wife, Carolyn, might run to succeed him as mayor. Maybe those two startling announcements will be made during the birthday blast!
