Actress Rachel Grubb and horror film director Teresa Fahs promise that their next shock flick Haunting Kira, to be filmed on location in Las Vegas next year, will be the goriest and bloodiest zombie movie ever made! The announcement was made the day after Comic-Con in San Diego wrapped last weekend.
Rachel is known as “The Scream Queen” from her 30 horror films, which include Terror Overload, Tales of the Dead, 13 Hours in a Warehouse, Strip Club Slasher and Cave Women on Mars. Rachel says she can’t wait to get started on the project.
“I love the script,” Rachel said. “It’s got lots of original gory goodness with some fun added to the plot. It won’t be like the majority of zombie movies. Most are about the world being chased by animated corpses, with the living fighting to stay alive. Haunting Kira is about one zombie, not an epidemic, a spirit who’s discovered a way to infiltrate a corpse, and this time the audience has a relationship with his mind. He feels what’s happening to him in the rotting vessel, and we experience that along with him.”
Teresa, dubbed “The Goddess of Gore,” has been a special FX makeup artist for the past decade. She will make her directing debut with Kira, which is scheduled for release on Mother’s Day! She said: “The gore is oozing from every page, and it keeps getting weirder. We will have awesome special effects and makeup and add a sexy spin to the horror.” She promises the film will be filled with paranormal activity, re-animated and decaying corpses, realistic gore, frenzied kills, plus nudity and a see-it-again-and-again ending. ArrowintheHead.com has branded the flick as having “major potential.”
Rachel is the main attraction in David Byron’s latest book Queens of Scream: The New Blood alongside Brenna Lee Roth, Bianca Barnett, Nikki Homicide K, Seregon O’Dassey, April Monique Burril and Monique Dupree. Fans can haunt Kira on Facebook and MySpace.

*NASA astronaut Scott Kelly hosted an educational forum for Clark County students over two days at Fremont Street Experience as part of downtown’s One Giant Leap celebration of the 40th anniversary of the moon landing. Scott was kept busier than a spacewalk with three one-hour Q&A sessions each day. He discussed his two space shuttle missions and showcased a NASA spacesuit and an Apollo 11 replica. Scott greeted and signed autographs for more than 450 enthusiastic students, several of whom told him they’d like to become astronauts, too!

It’s been 30 years, and Huey Lewis & the News are still working for a living. The band with heart and soul performs at the Star of the Desert Arena in Primm. … And now for something completely different, as Monty Python would say, RollerCon ’09 skates into the Imperial Palace for the next five days with tattooed skaters blocking, tackling and felling their rivals.
