Congratulations to our Merry Mayor of Mirth on his 70th birthday

Our wonderful tourism booster and always Merry Mayor Hizz Honor Oscar B. Goodman celebrates his 70th birthday tonight with a public street party at Fremont Street Experience downtown.

“It’ll be a blast!” Oscar said. “I’m inviting everyone to leave their worries behind and join me for a one-of-a-kind evening to benefit three local charities. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate my birthday than to share it with the citizens of fabulous Las Vegas!”

Mayor Goodman’s street party will be at the First Street Stage plaza next to Golden Nugget from 7 to 10 p.m., with entertainment, showgirls and appearances by Las Vegas celebrities, and a ceremony onstage with Oscar will take place from 8:30 to 9 p.m. There should be at least 70 showgirls on hand, along with a giant ice sculpture.

The three groups receiving 100 percent of funds raised are Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, Opportunity Village and Three Square. Bombay Sapphire gin, the Mayor’s gin of choice, will obviously be the drink of choice for his festivities. Special “Good-Man Martinis” will be served, and with the $20 charitable donation, street party participants will receive two Good-Man Martinis or other gin mixed drinks made with Bombay Sapphire, a commemorative T-shirt and a button.

“This is an opportunity for all Las Vegans to participate in celebrating the 70th birthday of our very popular mayor,” said Michael Severino, general manager of event marketing for Southern Wine & Spirits of Nevada. “I thank Bombay Sapphire for helping with this ‘fun-draiser,’ and we look forward to a great time.”
