Champagne wishes and caviar dreams with Krug — for $50,000

By Robin Leach

The Krug Champagne Room in Restaurant Guy Savoy is open for business.

We helped christen the new Krug Champagne Room at Restaurant Guy Savoy in Caesars Palace last night. Caesars Palace President Gary Selesner and Harrah’s Vice President Tom Jenkins cut the ribbon.

The first item we saw was a truly stunning $50,000 red picnic trunk! It took 700 hours to make. The trunk holds two chairs, a full table service for two and, most importantly, three vintage magnums for the six beautiful champagne glasses! You need a driver or butler just to move it, let alone set it up!

So, $50K? I will take two for Christmas! And, yes, it’s on sale at Restaurant Guy Savoy in Caesars. Here are two photos from the ribbon cutting and the trunk itself snapped from my iPhone.

This is the first Krug Champagne Room in the U.S. and can host as few as six people dining in true rich and famous splendor or as many as 30. The set menu is a magnificent masterpiece, and Krug champagnes accompany each course. Krug was the champagne of choice for fashion queen Coco Chanel and the late British Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill, among other VIPs.

News flash! Guy Savoy will open a branch of his restaurant in Moscow, and his chef, Damien, now here in Las Vegas will go to Russia to man the grills.

The 24/7 action of Las Vegas and Vegas DeLuxe never stops! Today starts at noon with Mario Lopez at the Palazzo. Then at 2 p.m., it’s Mindfreak and Believe magician Criss Angel as he opens his new retail store at Circus Circus and does a meet and greet with fans. Tonight, it’s Richard Lewis and Susie Essman from the HBO hit Curb Your Enthusiasm at The Venetian, followed by Terry Fator's private birthday party at The Mirage. In between, we’ll meet up with some 30 NFL players from 12 teams on Palazzo dining, shopping and nightclub sprees with their wives and gal pals.

We’ll tweet as much as possible so you’re right there alongside and up to date. For the grander photo coverage and additional reporting, be sure to click back here at Vegas DeLuxe on Monday.
