It’s hello, Holly Madison, goodbye Kelly Monaco and Mel B in Peepshow

News just broke on the first day of Holly Madison’s rehearsals for Peepshow that Mel B also will be leaving the topless adult cabaret burlesque at Planet Hollywood. I posted the quick report moments ago on twitter.com/robin_leach.
It was always the plan that Mel B and Kelly Monaco would do the first 12 weeks. Producers did want to renew Scary Spice’s contract, but the schedules didn’t work out. Now we’re awaiting the name of the triple-threat Broadway singer-actress-dancer arriving to take Mel’s place June 22.
British tabloid press are stirring trouble, saying it’s a feud between Mel and producers. Totally untrue: That’s always been the plan.
Holly Madison dons a pair of ruby red slippers at the 70th anniversary of The Wizard of Oz at Planet Hollywood.
Said Scott Zeiger, CEO of Base Entertainment: “We would have loved to keep Mel, but schedules didn’t allow it. It has always been our plan to feature rotating celebrities in Peepshow to keep the spirit of the show fresh and new. That said, we love Mel, and she is terrific in the role as Peep Diva. We discussed with Mel the possibility of an extension, and perhaps she will return to the show someday. However, we simply could not make the show and Mel’s schedules align at this time.”
Holly says, “First-day rehearsals were fun.” Producers commented: “Holly was fabulous. Everybody in the cast is excited to have her there.”
There had been rumors that one of the existing cast would step into Mel B’s high heels and sexy costumes, but it’s definitely a Broadway performer. Apparently she’s not a household name, but her Broadway theatrical credentials are long and legendary. I hope we’ll have the name tonight!
