Gerry ‘The Mentalist’ McCambridge celebrates 800 performances

Congratulations to Gerry McCambridge, who tomorrow night performs his 800th show since moving to Las Vegas in June 2005. Three weeks ago, without missing a show, he relocated his production from the Hooters Casino onto a new stage at the V Theater in the Miracle Mile at Planet Hollywood.

With the 800th performance, Gerry can now lay claim to being the longest-running mentalist show on the Strip.

Gerry arrived in town four years ago with just a three-week contract at the Rampart Casino, but it was renewed for 47 weeks before he moved to the Stardust for a long run before it was imploded. Again without missing a show, he relocated to Hooters in June of last year in a $1 million deal.

Gerry, who has been amazing audiences for more than 30 years, took his love for magic and mixed it with the observational skills taught him by his father, a New York City detective. He created the character of The Mentalist and became the creator, producer and star of the prime-time network TV show.

Our colleague Steve Friess recently compiled a Top 10 must-see list of Las Vegas shows, and Gerry was named the top magic show on the Strip at No. 7, two slots ahead of Mac King at Harrah’s. The Psychic Entertainers Association has named Gerry Entertainer of the Year twice.
