Strip Scribbles: Bikini beauties offer $5 car washes for charity — and it’s a hit

Employees of Harrah’s Entertainment are on a citywide campaign to benefit United Way of Southern Nevada, and at The Rio, the old-fashioned car wash took on new proportions. The Sapphire bikini beauties from The Rio pool decided that eye candy would be the attraction as they lathered up cars for the cause.

There was a steady stream of customers for the $5 bargain, and by the end of the day, the glamour girls with a charitable heart brought in more than $1,700 in car washes and tips!

*On the day we learned that Shoshana Bean had inked a contract to take her place in Peepshow at Planet Hollywood, Mel B treated herself to a day of beauty at Palms Place. First she had a facial at Drift Spa and then enjoyed a manicure and pedicure at Michael Boychuck’s Primp Salon in the condo-tel tower. Mel multitasked as the nail technician gave her a bright new red polish, sipping Coke and chatting on her Blackberry, saying she was looking forward to her move back to L.A.

*Congratulations to Gemma Farrell, who won the Miss Playboy Club title for May. Each month, The Playboy Club at the Palms conducts a model search to find the winner, who has a once-in-a-lifetime shot to be included in Playboy magazine. The winners from each month’s contest also will be featured in The Playboy Club 2010 calendar. Gemma, who’ll appear in all of this month’s Playboy Club advertising, also won $1,000 in cash, a photo shoot, premium pampering at Drift Spa and a free night on the town at Playboy.

*In less than a year, Theory of Flight -- frontman Beau Hodges, lead guitarist Vince Casas, bassist Joey McMahon, drummer Tyler Williams, rhythm guitarist Stephen Goodrum and keyboardist John Colombo -- has created quite the buzz in the Las Vegas music scene with performances at House of Blues, Hard Rock Hotel, Diablo’s Cantina and Jillian’s. Now it’s likely to explode as the band has teamed up with music producer and engineer Mark Needham, who worked with our other hometown heroes The Killers. TOF is wrapping up its debut album Within Reach due for a fall release, and it will include five Brilliant Display EP tracks and seven new songs.

UFC fighters Keith Jardine and Rashad Evans dined at N9NE Steakhouse in the Palms. Keith ordered Morty’s lemon chicken, Rashad grabbed the Kobe burger, and both shared sides of macaroni and cheese and sauteed green beans with their beers. … British soccer star Wes Brown of Manchester United enjoyed a bachelor party at N9NE, taking over the private dining room for a five-course feast! The group of players and friends feasted on shellfish platters, lamb chops, surf and turf and halibut, with cheesecake, s’mores and Oreo cookie ice cream for dessert and espresso shots. … They partied on at Rain, where DJ AM and DJ Jazzy Jeff spun dueling turntables for more soccer stars, including Danny Simpson, Jermaine Pennant, Jonathan Fortune, Graham Stack and Adam Lallana. Also there for the fun was fighter Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Detroit Pistons star Rasheed Wallace. … Up in The Playboy Club, pro skater Bob Burnquist partied with friends.
