Hometown hero and boxing star Floyd Mayweather Jr. over the weekend postponed his comeback battle against Juan Manuel Marquez. They were due to fight at MGM Grand Garden Arena on July 18, but Floyd suffered a rib injury during training, and now the rumble in the ring will be rescheduled.

Our leading lady of the lens Denise Truscello captured these amazing photos of Floyd at a training session last week hours before the injury. Personally, I’ve never seen a fighter in training using his head quite like this to lift weights! Quite amazing! Click HERE for our story about Floyd last Friday and a photo gallery of 42(!) stunning photos by contributing photographer Erik Kabik.

Floyd retired after his victory over Britain’s Ricky “The Hitman” Hatton in December 2007. At the time, he told me he was going to make Wall Street investments to grow his earnings and put them to use through his charitable foundation. But the economic slowdown altered his plans, and he came back out of retirement for this planned fight against Juan.

A six-time world champion, Floyd had never been beaten, winning 39 fights, of which 25 were by knockout. Juan has 37 knockouts in his 50-fight career. If Floyd beats Juan, it sets up the ultimate fight of the decade between him and current champ Manny Pacquiao, who defeated Ricky in a two-round pounding last month.
