It was almost kept a total secret -- and certainly, right up to the last minute, totally unexpected. Executives at the Bank in the Bellagio surprised partygoers early this morning with a performance by star singer Robin Thicke.
Robin had headlined Thursday’s live telecast of the NHL Awards at the Palms and performed the opening number with Chaka Khan. Here’s the YouTube video of the show opening:

Then after dinner in N9NE Steakhouse at the Palms where I’d joined them, Robin, his actress wife Paula Patton, his actor dad Alan Thicke and his wife Tanya and baby brother Carter decided to stay on in Las Vegas for a working weekend vacation. Robin and Paula are high school sweethearts and are celebrating their fifth wedding anniversary with their Las Vegas weekend.

Last night, the entire family first dined at Yellowtail with chef Akira Black in the Bellagio, where they posed for a photo with Queen Latifah who also was dining at Yellowtail, and then went onto the nearby Bank nightclub. Early this morning, Robin took to the stage and performed his hits for the enthusiastic crowd. Our ace contributing photographer Denise Truscello was invited to record the family’s night out -- and the unexpected concert -- with these great photos.
Robin says he and singer Jennifer Hudson had such a tremendous success with their co-headlining tour this spring -- they played The Pearl at the Palms six weeks ago -- that they want to work together again with possibly a record and a reprise of another tour later this year.

Beergarita
It was quite by happenstance that I came upon the beergarita, or perhaps it found me. I was blissfully unaware of the house-party staple’s existence until two glasses literally put ...
