Jonas Brothers kick off 2009 world tour and reveal what to expect in Las Vegas
By Robin Leach
Grammy Award-nominated platinum-selling recording stars the Jonas Brothers launched their 2009 world tour over the weekend in Dallas to a crowd of about 50,000. Judging by their 100 minutes of songs from three albums, including the just-released “Lines, Vines and Trying Times,” concertgoers here on Aug. 1 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center are in for a wow of a time. American Idol Season 6 winner Jordin Sparks and rising stars Honor Society will open their show here.
It’s the JoBros’ most ambitious production yet. The massive 140-foot-plus stage centered in the arena is an in-the-round design that creates plenty of front row floor seats, but a warning -- if you buy these seats, you will be sprayed with water! There also are two smaller satellite stages connected by catwalks so the brothers can get even closer to fans.
A crane swings Kevin and Joe out over the audience, and that water warning? Well, there’s a device that showers ribbons of water shaped as hearts, strings and letters over those front rows! The boys also have added two sets of strings and four horns to the backup band for a fuller and richer sound.
