Mayor Oscar Goodman comes face to face with his ice-cold portrait

It’s uncanny and very cold! Brrrrrrrrrr! Mayor Oscar Goodman came face to face with himself last night inside the Minus 5 Experience bar and lounge in the Shoppes at Mandalay Place. Ice carvers had worked more than 30 hours using a dozen tools and techniques to cut the life-sized color portrait from 550 pounds of ice frozen from crystal clear Canadian water.
Our Merry Mayor of Mirth was impressed with his look-alike duplicate mounted on its own ice-blocks stand: “First I’m immortalized in wax at the Madame Tussauds museum, and now I’m an ice-cold version of myself. What could possibly be next? This ice block will remain frozen and be up throughout the summer, but then I’ll just melt away. I have to make sure it’s not a political omen!”
The latest rumors on that front are that Oscar, the best cheerleader Las Vegas could ever have, will run as an independent in the next gubernatorial race and that his wonderful wife Carolyn will run as his replacement for mayor! I think it’s a winning ticket for the city and the state. We’ve never had a better mayor, and if both are elected, then his legacy and fun continues, plus we will have another colorful voice on the national scene.
Minus 5 has a constant interior temperature of 24 degrees even if our outdoor desert temperatures surpass the 100-degree mark as they did for yesterday’s presentation to the mayor. Minus 5 equips guests with parkas, gloves and snow boots so you stay cozy and warm while inside the frozen bar and enjoying vodka served in frozen water glasses.
The mayor stuck to his usual gin martini and quipped: “It will always be perfectly chilled in here. This is cool!”
