Congratulations to Las Vegas dessert talent Jenifer Fournier! For the second consecutive year, Jenifer has been named by Dessert Professional magazine as one of the 10 best pastry chefs in the United States. Jenifer works at both Alex and Stratta run by Alexander Stratta at the Wynn.

Jenifer won the recognition at a New York City ceremony attended by more than 200 food industry folks. After the ceremony, she served up her peach cylinders and vanilla creme fraiche with compressed sangria peaches. You can order it right here at the Wynn and then learn the recipe in the August issue of the magazine!

While on the subject of fine food, cooking enthusiasts should join Eduardo Perez, Wolfgang Puck’s executive chef at Lupo, when the Mandalay Bay kitchen king gives a free demonstration of his Italian fare at Whole Foods Market in Town Square at 5 p.m. today. He’ll spill the secrets of the techniques used to create the signature Northern Italian-style summer dishes that are perfect for entertaining guests this time of year.

The menu features authentic Italian dishes inspired by Rome and its neighboring northern regions and includes sauteed shrimp with white beans, rosemary and garlic, layered handmade spinach pasta with bechamel and Bolognese and New York Strip with arugula and rosemary.
