It’s official as of this mid-afternoon! Monte Carlo headliner and master magician Lance Burton will confirm the future of his show there, and Mayor Oscar Goodman will be on hand to offer immediate congratulations.
Lance has starred in his own theater at the Monte Carlo for the past 13 years, and his unprecedented contract officially ended 10 days ago. In recent weeks, Lance had to take a leave of absence due to a broken foot sustained while climbing back onstage. He’d gone into the audience to retrieve one of his errant doves, and Lance tripped in the dark on the steps.

This afternoon, with his doctor’s approval, Lance will announce his return to the Monte Carlo in mid-July – and, also as Vegas Deluxe previously reported from the magicians community here, his new two-year contract to bring it to a 15-year total.
I remember, with hard hats on, walking with Lance on the construction site of his theater 18 months before it opened in 1996. I’ll chat one-on-one with Lance this afternoon after Anton Nikodemus, Monte Carlo’s president and COO, makes the official announcement, and we’ll have that report tomorrow.
