Update: Master magician Lance Burton lands six-year contract at Monte Carlo

After a two-month absence due to a broken foot, master magician Lance Burton will return to his headliner residency at the Monte Carlo on July 7. It also will mark the start of a new six-year contract he signed today to extend his performances there into 2015. That’s four more years than members of the Las Vegas magic circle originally whispered to us as a sleight-of-hand distraction!

Mayor Oscar Goodman presented an official proclamation to Lance that makes July 7 Lance Burton Day right after he signed the contract with a gold pen that kept disappearing. The new contract gives Lance an unprecedented 19-year run.

Lance told me: “I think it’s the longest contract in Vegas history.” We’ll have the full interview with Lance later this week, plus exclusive photos of he and gal pal Gabriella Versace, lead singer of the band Nitro playing at the M Resort this weekend. The couple has been dating for more than four years.

Lance, who broke his foot May 7 while climbing the steps back to his stage, had surgery May 11 and has been unable to walk on it until this week. He says hopefully by this weekend he will be able to put on sneakers for the first time. Lance credits Gabriella and her dog Rio for their constant nursing attention during the two-month recovery.
