Strip Scribbles: Katy Perry to film new music video in Las Vegas

Pop princess Katy Perry will have her 82-year-old grandmother nearby when she shoots her new video “Waking Up in Vegas” here on Wednesday and Thursday. But don’t expect a cup of tea and a bagel and cream cheese at the ready! In fact, Grandma, who lives here, might blush because Katy’s video producers have booked bare-chested, hard-bodied hunks along with drag queens, sexy strippers and showgirls who make up our titillating nightlife to go on camera! Katy will shoot the video after casting folks whittle down the applicants today. The nightlife denizens are needed for the daybreak “walk of shame” footage in the video!

*He was a week late with his prediction of a NASCAR win, as Kurt Busch nailed it yesterday in Atlanta. Kurt lost on home turf a week ago at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway to his younger brother Kyle, but at the Cobalt Tools 500, he raced to victory -- and on the national telecast gave a victory lap shout-out to fans watching at the Golden Gaming taverns in Las Vegas! Kurt is a partner in the 31 PT’s taverns and the three Sierra Gold ultra-taverns throughout the valley, and he told everybody to have a beer on him! More than 500 fans took him up on the free Miller Lite offer!

*Former presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, who now has a weekly Fox News show, met up with Venetian/Palazzo owner Sheldon Adelson here, and the hotel mogul blasted President Obama’s castigation of Vegas as the wrong place to go for conventions. In their discussion, Huckabee and Adelson agreed that Vegas is the best place for conventions and laughed about what would be the worst place in America to have a convention. Now Huckabee is running a weeklong contest to find the worst and most boring places in America for a convention. Huckabee will reveal the results on his show next weekend. Miss America Katie Stam visits her grade school in Seymour, Ind.

*For the first time since winning the 2009 Miss America title at Planet Hollywood in January, Katie Stam got home to Indiana. Her whirlwind Hoosier tour began in her hometown of Seymour where the mayor declared it Miss America Day. There was a parade and proclamation in Katie’s honor, and she took her crown to school to show kids from all grades what it looked like. They made their own paper crowns for the day! Katie also spent time with her family and fiance and picked up clothes for her year on the road.

*Just as he’s about to become a major TV star, chef Ludo Lefebvre left Lavo in the Palazzo this past weekend to relaunch his Ludo Bites operation in Beverly Hills, Calif. Bravo’s Top Chef is about to premiere its masters’ challenge series, and Ludo was selected to compete. Obviously, he’s sworn to secrecy about the outcome, but I can tell you he’s happy he took part in it.

*Sean Christie, who built the successful Blush at the Wynn, is now taking on another challenge: He’s opening the Daydream pool experience April 2 at the new M Resort. Sean’s holding a casting call today and tomorrow at the pool and says folks should come in their best swimwear -- even if it’s a little cold!

Wherever you turned this past weekend, you were likely to run into Hollywood and sports stars: Alison Waite, Playboy’s Miss May 2006, was solo for two hours and not drinking at a table alongside the DJ booth in Rain at the Palms. … Retired St. Louis Rams star Stephen Davis and Chris Hope and Nate Washington of the Tennessee Titans were in Moon at the Palms with different groups of friends enjoying Grey Goose and Hennessey. … Downstairs in N9NE Steakhouse were Hines Ward of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Joey Porter of the Miami Dolphins. Before leaving, Hines and his entourage of 14 made a visit into the kitchen to sign executive chef Barry Dakake’s famous door. … The world’s first supermodel Janice Dickinson hosted an Andrew Christian underwear fashion show and party at Krave in Planet Hollywood, with pop singer Tiffany showing up after her Tony & Tina’s Wedding guest appearance, along with Preston Lee, Top Design Season 2 runner-up. … Boxer Winky Wright was at Caramel Bar & Lounge in the Bellagio in one of the intimate booths. … While renowned DJ AM gave revelers at Pure in Caesars Palace an extra thrill with his turn of the tables, Michael Huff of the Oakland Raiders held court at a VIP table just off the dance floor. … The Men of X and their X Burlesque counterparts showed off their moves at the opening party for Dixie’s Dam Bar at the Hooters casino resort. Then the X girls went out to Green Valley Ranch to perform with Steel Panther, and UFC’s Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, who had seen the X girls the night earlier, followed them out for a second consecutive night.
