Strip Scribbles: Tiffany’s Vegas fun includes Tao and a Wedding

When Tony & Tina’s Wedding producers discovered that 1980s pop icon Tiffany was coming to town on a mini-vacation, they invited her to crash the wacky wedding and ribald reception! The hysterical, over-the-top show is at Planet Hollywood, and Tiffany reveled in her walk-on guest appearances.

Tiffany hosted an ’80s night of music -- including her own -- at Tao in The Venetian, and our contributing photographers Scott Harrison and Aaron Thompson were there on the red carpet for her arrival. Fans decked themselves out in their finest ’80s wardrobes, and the red-haired singer wowed the crowd with her new dance single “Dust Off and Dance” and also sang her hit “I Think We’re Alone Now.” After fans sang it along with her, she told them: “The crazier you get, the better it is, and you were crazy tonight.”

Director Zack Snyder's Watchmen.

*It was a $55.7 million box office-opening bonanza that made Watchmen the No. 1 movie at the box office last weekend, and director Zack Snyder’s comic book adaptation about a team of twisted superheroes had the biggest opening of 2009 so far -- but not quite as large as the $70 million take of his hit 300 in 2007. Having been named ShoWest 2009 Director of the Year, Zack is headed to Las Vegas for the movie convention’s final night award ceremony at Bally’s and Paris on April 2. More than 5,000 members of the motion picture industry from more 50 countries will be attending ShoWest. Movie attendance so far this year is sky high: Compared with last year, box office receipts have hit $1.9 billion, an increase of 16 percent.

Marie and Donny Osmond.

*You’ll hear Flamingo headliner Donny Osmond call into The Bonnie Hunt Show today because one of the talk show host’s viewers bid $11,000 to win an auction package Donny had donated. During a January appearance on the show, Donny and Marie donated tickets to their Strip show, a backstage tour and dinner with him -- all to benefit a Chicago cancer charity. Said Donny about the winning $11,000 bid: “I didn’t think it would cost that much money to watch me eat!” Impressed with the generous donation, Donny told Bonnie that he also would “bring the winning female bidder up on stage, sit her on a stool and sing ‘Puppy Love’ directly to her.”

Leslie Bibb on the cover of Vegas magazine.

*Confessions of a Shopaholic actress Leslie Bibb is the new cover model of our sister Vegas magazine. The 34-year-old star of Talladega Nights and Popular says her Shopaholic character was “deliciously evil.” She told interviewer Elizabeth Hazard: “She’s evil because she’s frightened of losing things. Even though she’s the girl who looks like she has everything, she’s scared on the inside.” Leslie, who is the “going green” spokeswoman and face of Almay Pure Blends, also confessed the dangerous gamble of being an actress: “You’re taking chances all the time if you want to be an actress. You have to do things for the experience. Sometimes a movie doesn’t end how you want it to, but that doesn’t mean you don’t take the job.”
