Katy Perry loves being single and begins filming video in Las Vegas
By Robin Leach
Today and tomorrow, pop princess Katy Perry will be shooting her new music video for the single “Waking Up in Vegas,” and yesterday she began to get her on-camera look in order! One of those beauty treatments was at Michael Boychuck’s Amp Salon in the Palms for a manicure, where she had cheetah print Minx nails applied.
Katy is staying at George Maloof’s Palms this week while she’s filming. As we reported Monday -- click HERE -- there was a casting call for eccentric extras for the video. Hundreds of drag queens, showgirls, bodybuilders, handsome hunks and stunning models turned up for the auditions. They were trimmed to dozens last night and given a 10 a.m. call for today.
They’ll be on set starting today earning $250 each for the expected 10 hours of filming and again tomorrow. They’ve all been told there will be extra pay if the shooting goes over on both days. Their characters will be nightlife denizens heading home after an all-night spree of partying in a walk of shame as Katy sings her hit!

Preliminary filming of the video was underway late last night. Katy filmed a scene in the main Palms valet area in which she exited from a limousine. Joe and Gavin Maloof, owners of the Sacramento Kings, making a cameo appearance for their brother George, who runs the Palms for Maloof Enterprises, greeted her.
After the cameras recorded the vignette of Joe and Gavin walking her into the casino, Katy moved up to a sky villa in the Palms Fantasy Tower for the second scene of the video.
While at Amp, Katy told the cosmeticians there that she is fine with not having a serious boyfriend -- and was enjoying being single right now! She was linked with Good Charlotte’s Benji Madden when she performed at the Hard Rock Hotel after her Christmas breakup from another rocker, Travis McCoy of Gym Class Heroes.
