Flamingo headliners Donny & Marie Osmond have completed a video shoot for two public service announcements for Earth Hour, the March 28 blackout on the Strip. They recorded the spots last week, which can now be viewed on YouTube, as well.

Strip casinos, downtown hotels and celebrity chef restaurants will all turn off the power to join with businesses across the valley. It’s for the World Wildlife Fund’s global initiative to draw attention to the deteriorating environment and the need for conservation.

More than 850 cities have agreed to participate in the largest call to action on climate change. For one hour March 28 starting at 8:30 p.m., the bright lights of Las Vegas will go dark. Even the Welcome to Las Vegas sign south of Mandalay Bay and the Four Seasons will be turned off!

The list of Vegas participants continues to grow, but to date the following hotels will go dark: Arizona Charlie’s and the Stratosphere; Boyd Gaming properties including the Gold Coast, The Orleans, Suncoast, Sam’s Town and its downtown Eldorado, California, Fremont and Main Street hotels; the Four Seasons, the Hard Rock Hotel, Harrah’s Entertainment resorts including Bally’s, Caesars Palace, Flamingo, Harrah’s, Imperial Palace, Paris and The Rio; Hooters, the Hilton, the Palazzo and The Venetian of the Las Vegas Sands Corp.; MGM Mirage properties include Bellagio, Circus Circus, Excalibur, Luxor, Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand, The Mirage, Monte Carlo, New York-New York, Treasure Island and the Signature; the Palms and Palms Place; the PH Towers by Westgate and big brother Planet Hollywood; the Riviera, the Sahara, Terrible’s, the Tropicana; and the Wynn and Encore from Steve Wynn.

Vegas DeLuxe will continue to report this developing story as more businesses join in Earth Hour.
