King of Pop Michael Jackson is requesting that fans suggest their ideal set of songs for his 50 London concerts this summer. He wants suggestions old and new, popular and obscure and personal favorites that have a special meaning or trigger fond memories. Michael also wants great dance tune suggestions, as he’s promising to unveil a new dance number that he says will outshine his famous moonwalk.

Obviously, “Thriller,” “Beat It,” “The Girl Is Mine” and “Billie” Jean will be in the favorites category. Now I can confirm that Michael’s prized shows in the British capital will definitely be recorded for future DVD release and posterity!

Meantime, rarely seen selections from Michael’s personal wardrobe have gone on display at the Grammy Museum in downtown L.A. The one-of-a-kind, limited-time exhibit defines his uniquely personal style and will remain open for viewing to fans until April 12. The Grammy Museum is a half block from the Staples Center.

The exhibit features eight elaborately embellished jackets and two gloves, among other wardrobe items. Highlights include jackets worn on the Victory tour, at Michael's 1984 American Music Awards appearance, and at the dedication of his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. All are bejeweled, beaded and detailed, with one jacket alone weighing nearly 15 pounds.

"The Grammy Museum is excited for this rare chance to share this material with our visitors," said Ken Luftig Viste, chief curator. “Michael Jackson is undeniably one of the most significant entertainers in pop music history, and the pieces' star power -- and design -- is striking. Few, if any, have ever before been made available to the public in this way."

Oprah goes on a talent search

Incidentally, I discovered that the museum will be closed this Saturday in case you were going to rush off to check out Michael’s showcase. That’s because Oprah Winfrey is about to do battle with Simon Cowell and all his talent productions on television. The talk show titan is holding auditions there this weekend in a search for the world’s smartest and most talented kids -- for a new TV series!
