Photo Galleries: Lil’ Wayne, Charlie Daniels and Monster Circus
By Robin Leach
Music makes the world go round, and it takes all kinds -- from country to rap to rock -- to satisfy fans. Our contributing photographers Denise Truscello, Erik Kabik and Scott Harrison were kept jumping the past 72 hours to keep up with all the musical madness.
Charlie Daniels brought his unique sounds of country, jazz and blues to the Silverton; Lil’ Wayne had a star turnout among his fans for the concert with Gym Class Heroes at The Pearl Concert Theater in the Palms; and Dee Snider led an all-star lineup of rock group legends into the Hilton for Monster Circus. Click HERE for our editor Johnny Kats' review of Monster Circus.
Enjoy the photo gallery, and always remember that Vegas DeLuxe has the best photos from right up front and backstage with all the visiting entertainers who had our city fully sold out this past weekend, contrary to the story you’ll read on the cover of next week’s Time.
So headlines and TV reporters keep piling on the alleged “gloom and doom” here, but when we get two consecutive sold-out weekends and more to come with the extraordinary events our city’s hoteliers are now staging, they choose to ignore it.
So we’re going to lead the campaign and talk about the good rather than the bad. It only makes it worse when the focus is kept on the flaws -- like a self-fulfilling prophecy. We’ve got to get our Convention and Visitors Authority and its PR folks firing up the good news of sellouts concerts to the communication naysayers who are doing us damage with their murky misery and sad stories!
Now to get President Obama to retract his statement and say it’s OK to come to Las Vegas. Maybe we’ll get back here those 433 canceled conventions that caused thousands of layoffs in the past four weeks. After all, we are the world’s best convention city, restaurant city, entertainment city and retail shopping city -- and not just a double-down dive in the desert. Las Vegas: Stand up, be proud, and tell the world we are the best!
