Photo Galleries: In the front row at the Styx and .38 Special concert

It was a double-header of rock excitement at our Thomas & Mack Center with two blasts from the past. Instead of Cher, Tommy Shaw and James Young turned back time to play the memorable string of hits by Styx -- “Come Sail Away,” “Mr. Roboto,” “Lady” and “Renegade,” among others, and our contributing photographer Tom Donoghue was up close from the front row for this exciting photo collection.

He also shot Don Barnes and Donnie Van Zant as .38 Special fired up their guitars for the memorable night of music and the band’s hits “Second Chance,” “Caught Up in You,” “If I’d Been the One” and “Like No Other Night.”

Said Tom: “This was powerful rock, and the crowds adored them. It was great to get this opportunity to photograph them right at the front of the stage.”
