Executives at the Hard Rock Hotel have decided to rename their brand new The Joint as The Rogue Joint! It’s part of a branding and co-marketing deal with Relativity Media, who owns Rogue Pictures, which has specialized in horror movies including The Unborn and Last House on the Left. Relativity has financed or produced more than 60 movies that have racked up $7.4 billion in worldwide box office revenue.
Fifty of those have been Top 10 box office releases within the past two years and include Fast & Furious, Mamma Mia! and Hancock. Relativity’s movies have earned 29 Oscar nominations for such films as Frost/Nixon, American Gangster and 3:10 to Yuma.
The first moves in the new affiliation include a new in-room TV channel programmed with Rogue’s films and trailers and a select slate of Rogue film premieres and screenings with details to be announced soon. The Joint, now The Rogue Joint, hosted The Killers and Paul McCartney its opening weekend last month.

*In its second year of the Create a Found Instrument contest, Blue Man Group dropped in on Shadow Ridge High School here yesterday to surprise the winner and class. The eccentric entertainers from The Venetian show presented $1,000 to the winner and $5,000 to the class teacher to use for the students’ continuing education. The students developed a new musical instrument out of discarded building supplies, similar to how Blue Man Group creators converted PVC pipes into their show’s musical instruments.
