Star chef Wolfgang Puck has had great success with his Bar & Grill in the MGM Grand here, and now he’s opening a spin-off branch at the Nokia Theater L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles. The MGM restaurant was opened in 2004, and Wolf didn’t expand from the one location until now. The new 8,000-square-foot Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill will be located near the Grammy Museum and Staples Center.

“Over the past two years, we’ve opened numerous restaurants across the country, but it is most exciting to open my newest restaurant in Los Angeles, a city I consider my home, at this one-of-a-kind entertainment location at L.A. Live,” said Wolf, who has six Las Vegas restaurants. “It’s great to be a part of downtown Los Angeles’ revitalization by offering a new fine dining experience to our guests where they can find our quality cuisine at an affordable price in a casual setting.”

Meantime, in his own personal bid to beat the economic blues, Wolf says he’s taking 25 percent off guest checks for locals at his CUT, Spago, Postrio, Chinois and Lupo restaurants from June 1 through Sept. 30. He’s also offering a new $29 pre-fixe lunch at Spago and a three-course $39 pre-fixe menu with wine at Chinois, both in Caesars Palace Forum Shops; and a $49 three-course pre-fixe menu with wine at Postrio and a $75 pre-theater dinner at CUT in The Venetian and Palazzo, respectively.
