Hotel tycoon Steve Wynn has been discussing Beyonce’s return to his Encore Theater at the Wynn to alternate with country singer Garth Brooks’ appearances there over the next five years! Steve and Beyonce’s father, Matthew Knowles, who serves as her manager, have talked about a regular series of short-run appearances modeled after Garth’s contract.
Meantime, before that deal is signed, sealed and delivered, Beyonce’s last concert here at the Wynn will be seen and heard on CD and DVD just before Thanksgiving. Industry insiders are suggesting that the Nov. 23 release might coincide with an announcement by Steve about her return to his Las Vegas property.
We get a taste of Beyonce’s music on MTV this Thursday when one of the two bonus tracks of her deluxe edition I Am … Sasha Fierce debuts. It’s the Lady GaGa duet on the extended remix of “Video Phone.” Additionally, Las Vegas and the Wynn gets added exposure on Thanksgiving when ABC airs a one-hour special, Beyonce I Am Yours all edited from the Las Vegas footage.

In all, 30 songs will be featured on the two-CD/DVD release on Nov. 23 of her Wynn shows that also includes behind-the-scenes footage of her concerts here this summer. Disc 1 includes the tracks “Irreplaceable,” “Scared of Lonely” and “That’s Why You’re Beautiful.” Disc 2 will include “Work It Out, “Crazy in Love,” “Naughty Girl” and “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It).”
The DVD features 16 scenes, including a jazz medley of “Deja Vu” in the intermission and a Destiny’s Child medley in the second act. The bonus feature is titled “ What Happens in Vegas.”
On the Garth front, the war between ticket brokers and Steve Wynn continues to escalate. Coincidentally, the National Association of Ticket Brokers held its annual summer conference at the Wynn and the Encore.
The trade group has now notified the hotels that they are canceling next summer’s conference in protest over Steve’s anti-scalping plans directed at brokers who have purchased Garth tickets. The particulars of that policing are still being fine-tuned in advance of Garth’s first concert there on Dec. 11.
Meantime, at least for now, Garth says he won’t be following in Beyonce’s footsteps and doesn’t plan on any recording rereleases of his acoustic concerts at the Wynn. For the record, his hit “Friends in Low Places” came from his live concert recording of the last Thomas & Mack Center appearance.
