Tonight’s recap will be abbreviated, as I’ll be at the Encore Theater in the Wynn at 7 p.m. watching tennis ace and Las Vegas resident Andre Agassi being interviewed by ESPN’s Rick Reilly. So much news on a Monday night!
SPOILER ALERT: Please do not read any further if you want to get the full surprise and drama of watching the West Coast tape-delayed broadcast of ABC’s top-rated Dancing With the Stars. But come back after the show to compare notes with us!
From Twitter:
Live broadcast of Dancing With the Stars is getting underway from Los Angeles. Tonight, each one of the five celebrity couples has to dance two routines. Tomorrow, Britain’s Got Talent sensation Scottish singer Susan Boyle belts out “I Dreamed a Dream” promoting her same-name debut CD in stores Nov. 24.
Kym Johnson and Donny Osmond do the quickstep on Dancing With the Stars.
Crotchety curmudgeon judge Len Goodwin hands out a 10! Stop the presses. Mya and partner Dmitry Chaplin get high scores for their quickstep. (Aaron Carter and Karina Smirnoff received the first 10 of Season 9 from Len for their jive last week.)
Pro dancer Karina is dancing with flu-like symptoms to perform the foxtrot, but it’s not an impressive score. Judges say she’s stiff and robotic. Same low score surprisingly for model Joanna Krupa and our Las Vegas Academy graduate Derek Hough with their quickstep.
So after the first dance, it’s Mya and Dmitry with 29 for their quickstep, our Flamingo headliner Donny Osmond and Kym Johnson in second with 26 for their Viennese waltz, Las Vegas regular Kelly Osbourne and Louis Van Amstel right behind at 25 for the foxtrot, Aaron and Karina with 23 for their foxtrot, and Joanna and Derek with 23 for their quickstep.

Slight delay now in DWTS reports, as I am driving to the Wynn for Andre’s book signing lecture. Hundreds of fans and media are expected.
Mya and Dmitry jump to frontrunner status with cross-the-board perfect scores for their 1970s samba. Aaron and Karina improve with their 1990s samba for their second dance. Three scores are left before totaling up the night.
Joanna and Derek’s second dance is a futuristic paso doble, which greatly helps their scoring. Kelly and Louis tackle a 1960s jive, and judges keep them away from trouble. Bad surprise of the night is Donny and Kym’s glam rock paso doble. Judges hated it, and they receive the lowest score of the second round.

Here are the total scores for the night: Mya and Dmitry far out front with 59, Joanna and Derek with 52, Kelly and Louis at 51, and Donny and Kym and Aaron and Karina tied at 50.
