Crowds on the Strip sidewalk brought traffic to a near stop this morning as they tried for a glimpse of movie stars Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg filming scenes of their new movie The Other Guys, the story of a dysfunctional New York City detective duo, at the Flamingo. Las Vegas regular and socialite Paris Hilton also is in the film and shot scenes in New York a week ago.

Contributing photographer Erik Kabik was invited onto the set for these candid photos. Mark and Will looked like regular Las Vegas tourists, with Will in a Vegas, Baby, Vegas T-shirt and Mark holding on to a tall drink from Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville at the Flamingo.

The Other Guys is directed by Adam McKay, who previously helmed Will’s comedies Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby and Step Brothers. It was the second consecutive day of shooting here on the Strip: Yesterday, Adam filmed them with the Jersey Boys cast in their theater at the Palazzo.

In The Other Guys, Will plays Det. Allen Gamble and Mark plays Det. Terry Hoitz. The films also stars Samuel L. Jackson, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Michael Keaton, Steve Coogan, Anne Heche and Eve Mendes. It’s unknown if any of their scenes will be filmed here, too.
