Is it only me who is confused by the programming schedule for Top Chef: Las Vegas? Is it only me who thinks that two weeks have gone by without a new episode? Bravo promotes a new episode every Wednesday, but from every resource I’ve poured over, the cable network is still airing repeats with our Rio headliners Penn & Teller yet again tonight.
I’m assured that a new episode will air next week, and we’ll get Johnny Avello’s entertainment odds from the Wynn sports book tomorrow for next week’s resumed show. I can’t find out if I’m right about the skipped shows and certainly can’t get any information as to why the missing two weeks! If anyone knows, please tweet me at Twitter.com/robin_leach.
*Congratulations to three noted Las Vegas chefs who are based in New York and Napa Valley, as they have been awarded three stars from the prestigious Michelin travel guide for their Manhattan hotspots. Thomas Keller from The Venetian won three stars, the maximum award possible, for his Per Se, Daniel Boulud from the Wynn won three stars for Daniel, and Jean-Georges Vongerichten at the Bellagio won a top award for his Jean-Georges.
*Hotel tycoon Steve Wynn has started his own private luxury jet service from Los Angeles to Las Vegas for guests to bypass TSA security lines that we first rumored here. His Jetsetter Getaway Package offers flights from Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport and John Wayne Airport in Orange County. Complimentary valet parking and hassle-free check-in and boarding are included. The round trip is in a 50-seat jet, and a pre-flight Wynn concierge is on hand with each guest’s room key before takeoff. Complimentary champagne is offered with light snacks and beverages.
Upon arrival here, limousine shuttles whisk guests from the tarmac to the Wynn or Encore for a three-night stay. Travelers avoid the baggage carousels and find their bags awaiting them in their suites. Cost is $780 per person for double occupancy in the guest rooms and $1,193 per person for single occupancy, including taxes and fees. This is definitely the way to arrive in true style and harkens to the old days of Las Vegas where the customer always came first!
*Congratulations to Gerry McCambridge, who celebrated his 900th performance of The Mentalist since arriving in Las Vegas. Gerry, who has never missed a show despite hopping around three hotels, is currently at V Theater in Planet Hollywood’s Miracle Mile.
*Several Las Vegas-based magicians have been signed to the 2009 World Magic Awards being taped Saturday in Santa Monica, Calif., for broadcast over Thanksgiving weekend on MyNetwork. My friends Robert Wagner and Jill St. John will host the special, and there will be performances by Monte Carlo headliner Lance Burton, Planet Hollywood headliner Steve Wyrick and our resident magicians Michael Finnety, Joseph Gabriel, Greg Frewin and Marco Tempest, among others. The broadcast benefits the nonprofit Feed the Children, with more than 25 TV stars attending and presenting.
*Penn Jillette’s producer wife Emily Jillette has announced that at the next installment of Matt Donnelly’s Celebrity Tarot Lounge, poker princess Annie Duke, Mirage headliner Terry Fator, Mythbuster star Adam Savage and yours truly will be featured on Oct. 16 and 17. Tickets and other information for our appearances at the Stage Door Theater in Town Square can be found at TarotLounge.com.
*It’s taken 650 hours of tattooing to cover the artist known as Lizardman from head to toe -- even his eyelids and lips are tattooed. Now Lizardman, with his reptilian scales, surgically forked tongue and implanted Teflon horns over each eye, will be the star attraction at Fright Dome in Circus Circus starting tomorrow through midnight on Halloween. Lizardman’s teeth have even been filed into sharp points to complete the effect! Fright Dome owner Jason Egan will introduce Lizardman tomorrow, and when the Halloween-themed horror show premieres on Friday, Lizardman will be there to shock and fascinate daily until Halloween.
A Bronx Tale star Chazz Palminteri relaxed at Jet in The Mirage in advance of his theatrical premiere tonight of his one-man show at The Venetian. … Porn princess Tera Patrick, her mom and her sister had lunch at Iron Chef Kerry Simon’s restaurant in Palms Place enjoying the tuna dynamite and sushi sampler. … Country singer Randy Travis thrilled fans at his Station Casino concert.
Despite the chill in the air and the sudden drop in temperatures, The Beach Boys continue to play as if it’s still summer on the beach. Surf’s up as far as they are concerned at the Star of the Desert Arena in Primm.
With autumn in the air and the colors changing, the Palazzo celebrates the season with a decor change, and we take a photo tour. Naughty by Nature and Coolio join forces for a night of “Hip Hop Hooray,” plus we’ve got our chats with Motley Crue frontman Vince Neil and America’s Got Talent Live! host Jerry Springer.
