Holly Madison starts shooting reality TV series Planet Holly

E! Entertainment cameras arrived on the Strip last night and began filming “scene set shots by dark” in advance of four days of shooting the first episode of Holly Madison’s new reality TV show this morning. I can reveal that two days -- tomorrow and Thursday -- will be spent downtown at City Hall in the company of our merry mayor of mirth, Oscar Goodman.

Holly, in Mary Tyler Moore comedy style, has her eyes on becoming an intern at City Hall to learn about the politics of Las Vegas. But that’s a ruse, because she admits that she might even run for mayor now that Oscar is termed out and seriously contemplating a run for governor as an Independent. Holly as mayor wouldn’t be a first for our city because one-time car dealer Jan Jones had the job for two terms back in the 1990s, but it sure would be a first for a continuing reality TV series!

Contrary to buzz circulating, Holly is not the secret winner of the new reality TV show Face of Vegas that wrapped its four-week filming schedule here over the weekend with Vanessa Minnillo, Carson Kressley and Howard Stern’s wife Beth Ostrosky. However, Holly was seen in last night’s season premiere of ex-boyfriend Hugh Hefner’s The Girls Next Door on E! Part 2 airs tonight and shows Hef’s new gal pals the Shannon twins (Karissa and Kristina) tricked into a crazy adventure among the wax statues at Madame Tussauds in The Venetian.

Holly, who is currently rehearsing a new cheerleader-themed dance number in Peepshow at Planet Hollywood, is adamant about solving some of Las Vegas’ traffic problems. Now I think she’d stop traffic just by getting out there on the famed Las Vegas Boulevard, but she wants to get it all moving a lot easier and faster!

“It’s not mean like other reality shows,” Holly told me of Planet Holly. “This show, which chronicles my new life in Las Vegas, will have some docu-drama, but it’s the perfect excuse for me to be normal in a lighthearted comedy romp. Think Mary Tyler Moore. But it will have an empowering message for women showing that however crazy the ideas you might have, they can be achieved.” Click HERE for our recent chat with Holly about the show.

Zany comedian and Luxor headliner Carrot Top and the Superstars of Magic at the downtown Las Vegas Club also are set for this week’s filming.

As executive producer, Holly’s even signed me up for a running cameo, and she’s found out where I have my daily glass of champagne at high noon. Tomorrow, we’ll film that first segment as she persuades me to join her petition to “speed and solve” the traffic problems so she can strong-arm the mayor into submission!

One smile from Holly, and I think she’ll make Oscar melt and give in to any and all of her requests! You couldn’t ask for any larger-than-life character as your hometown mayor. You couldn’t ask for a prettier pinup princess. This should be fun TV!
